Updated SwiftKey 3 Beta now available

Hey there SwiftKey fans,

We have a brand new Beta for you to try out! As always, we have made changes based on feedback from our VIPs, and we want to thank them for helping us to make this version of SwiftKey 3 Beta the best yet.

This new Beta has:

  • Improved prediction algorithms
  • Better, more consistent punctuation key behavior
  • Smarter Smart Space functionality (which will make it easier to enter email addresses etc)
  • A refined experience in Google Chrome Beta
  • Fixed missing predictions on the longpress of @ and .com
  • Improved gestures
  • Eliminated lag on letter pop-ups
  • Various other minor bug fixes and usability improvements

This version is still a Beta, and as such there are some issues that we are still working on. Rest assured, the final SwiftKey 3 will be (with your help) even better.     Have autotext shortcuts been added yet? If not, I’ll be unable to switch from the A.I.Type keyboard.

    Is it at all possible to get more keyboard layouts for the tablet version? There should at least be a split keyboard for portrait mode, but you only have split keyboard for landscape mode.

    Why have a comma and period in the list when you hold down the period? Both already have dedicated buttons.

    I would lose the period and comma. Then put the question mark above the period and the exclamation on either side. The question mark above the period would lead to faster typing.

    I fully agree with one of the other comments…

    Get rid of the PERIOD and the COMMA when LONG PRESSING on the PERIOD… It should only need the EXCLAMATION MARK and QUESTION MARK listed above on a long press.

    Great software so far!! Definitely feels better that Swiftkey X and that was and has been the keyboard of choice for me.

    Has anyone suggested an option to disable key pop-up when you type? I know it was broken as a bug a while back, but I actually preferred it that way.

    Much better than the last version. The space bar now has more space when in Portrait mode. But I dislike the fact that you removed the ‘^’ from the quick keys. It would also be nice to be able to customize the smilies and the quick keys. Your prediction has also improved greatly. Loving it.

    I don’t seem to have settings for gestures. I would love to try out the beta but without the ability to slide across the backspace to remove whole words, I can’t use it.

    I was just about to email you about switching the order of the ?! Key to be !? So it matches the flick direction and I see you have on the latest beta.

    Also noticed the missing @….. Has been fixed. Sweet!

    One issue I see from time to time is that if there’s a field on a website to enter your email address and it hasn’t been labeled correctly, the type without spaces feature is a massive pain in the butt. It will keep putting paces in your email address as you try and type it in. Not sure what you can do about that.

    Three suggestions,
    1) have a settings option to edit or add words to the user dictionary. (I could enter my email address in it and that would fix the above mentioned issue for my email address at least )
    2) add an option to backup /restore the user dictionary to the cloud (good for those who reflash phone etc..
    3) when writing sms, the default changes from enter key to smile faces. On the old version when still a pop up, after entering something it would change back to letters keyboard. Now it stays on smiley face menu. A pain as it’s very rare that you need to enter more than one smiley in a row. Unless I’m am just not happy enough…

    Oh and can you please make a GREEN glow keyboard skin and include it?
    The orange and blues ones are great, but a green one would rock too…

    Thanks for the great keyboard, bought the pro version the week it came out. It’s amazing!

    The smart spacing in this update seems to be a big step down. With the previous beta, I could write entire sentences without ever needing to hit the space bar, because it would automatically insert the ‘space-corrected’ words and then just keep going. This version doesn’t appear to do that, so it can only handle up to about 7 words…

    This new beta seems good. But there is a bug with foreign langage, when é, è, ç and othe special letters are needed. (at least for french, azerty)
    Everything is ok during a while, then after a while, all the words using one of these letters do not appear in the prediction. And it becomes no longer possible to make appear the special letters by long press.
    For instance, long press on “e” doesnt only may appear le “3″ and no longer é, è, ê, and ë.
    What is curious is that if I use voice input, everyhing is OK. And I can use words like “école”, “échelle”, “cassé”, “théâtre”
    But if I start writing “th”, I am suggested “théâtre”. But if I then write “e” to have “the”, it doesnt suggest “théâtre” any longer and there is no mean to have this word

    Hey I’m using 3.0.0.244 and I’m having some issues. I like the wider spacebar, but I’m having issues with it registering my presses sometimes. It seems like the top 1/3 of the spacebar doesn’t register my click. I”m using a MyTouch4G. Also, I’m having a problem where I try to hold down a letter to get a number/symbol and it makes the number appear but then it disappears quickly and doesn’t type anything. It works after a few more tries, usually. And lastly, I’m having a problem where sometimes when I bring up the keyboard to reply to a text, the keyboard acts fine and the buttons press and whatnot, but it doesn’t actually type anything into the text field. I used to have this problem on Swiftkey X, but then it went away for a long time, and it seems to be happening again with this beta. Thanks for a great program! Love this keyboard.

    Just restored my phone and Swiftkey3 Beta won’t let me download the language pack, none of them work, just keep getting “Network error”(on both WLan and “phone network”). Something wrong on my end or are your servers down or something?

    I see a coment here asking for a dedicate line for numbers. Please DON’T do that, there is already a key for swithching between alpha/number keyboard and will waste precious screen space.

    The question mark shoud be a basic key as before, in a dialog you end a great part of the sentences with a question mark. That was one of the reasons I purchased Swift Key.

    Goog job wit Hobo teme, very best view in small screens!
    BUT, why “?” removed from front key?, “?” in front key was the reason I use Swiftkey2 because I ask very much in SMS, whatsapp, chat etc. Can you restore the “?” key in Swiftkey3 ??????????
