We are delighted to announce SwiftKey is the winner of a Webby Award for innovation – and it’s thanks to you.
We asked our users to vote for us, a plucky David up against Goliath Google, and you did us proud.
The Webbys are international awards that recognise the very best of online and mobile. They are the biggest accolades in the industry and to be pitched against such a famous and innovative company and win is absolutely thrilling.
We had a little help from Stephen Fry – who called on his 4.2 million Twitter followers to lend their support – but it was our thousands of users and dedicated members of our VIP forum who nudged us into first place.
CEO Jon Reynolds said: “To be pitched against a company such as Google, and beat them in a public vote, is an incredible moment for us.
“It goes to show you can be a small company and compete with industry giants.

It tops off an incredible six months for the SwiftKey team. We have topped six million downloads, hit the number one spot in Android’s global paid apps chart and picked up the coveted Most Innovative App prize at the mobile industry’s Oscars, the Global Mobile Awards. We also helped you save 50 billion keystrokes – or over 600 years worth of typing.
The rest of 2012 promises to be just as big – and to help us achieve that, we’re about to get bigger: expanding the team to include even more talented staff.
Above all, we pledge to keep putting innovation at the heart of all we do.
